The talking children's castle map

 

How can regional history be told in a contemporary way for children without appearing dusty or boring? And how can we create inclusive access to this historical data? These two questions were the guiding principles for the development of a talking, tactile children's castle map for the Regensburger Land media centre. 

In order to bring children closer to the cultural treasures of the region (monuments and proverbs), selected images of castles and animals were printed in a tactile way on a map designed for children. A knight takes the children on a journey into the past via audio files. He sets them small tasks with which they learn tactile orientation on a map in a playful way. In his stories about the monuments, animals also have their say, explaining the origin and meaning of proverbs. 

The work under the direction of Gaby Eisenhut, together with the overall digital concept, received the 2022 Bavarian State Parliament Citizen's Award.

- The ink used is CE-certified in conformity with toys.
